MIDAS M32 VS BEHRINGER X32 HOW TO
Just need to find a UK dealer who can match Thomann's £900 price point. Midas / the Music Group recently released the Midas M32 digital mixing desk, claiming that they massively improved the desk’s preamps and AD/DA converters compared to the Behringer X32.As it is also intended for studio applications a colleague and me decided to do a little shootout in order to find out how big the sonic difference would be compared to a common studio signal chain. How to set up the behringer x32 or midas m32 mixing console and. On their website Midas claims, that the DL153’s preamps are Midas’ latest development and thus differs from those in the M32.
MIDAS M32 VS BEHRINGER X32 PLUS
Having the Powerplay Ultranet feature is a big plus for us as we use the P16 system for our monitoring and the digital stage boxes with a CAT5 back to FOH is potentially a big time saver for us. So again, in addition to the previous article regarding the Behringer X32 and the Midas M32, we wanted to clarify the question how the Midas M32 differs from the Midas DL153 in preamp / converter quality soundwise. I really wanted the M32 as opposed to the X32 when I first started looking at budget digital consoles but an extra £2k for the Midas pre's, the better sliders, the slightly better build quality and the Midas name, was a step too far, so this is a good compromise IMO. We've spent quite a bit of money recently trying to get our audio quality tip top. I'd raise the same argument as you that in a loud gig environment you'd be pushed to tell the difference *BUT* there is only a relatively small price premium to pay for the Midas pre's with the DL16 vs S16 and most of our shows *are* quiet theatre jobs where the difference could well be noticeable.

Again, bear in mind that the graph is spreading a 1 dB difference into a very large space. The X32’s top end rolls off earlier, but also more gradually than the M32. The Behringer’s flatness is 1.1 dB by comparison. Used an M32 the other day as opposed to our usual X32 and there is definitely a improvement with the Midas pre's. The Midas is flatter overall, with a difference of about 0.8 dB between the minimum and maximum measurement points.
